1In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.2And the earth was formless and void, and darkness was over the face of the Deep, and the Spirit of God was hovering over the face of the waters.3And God said, "Let there be light," and there was light.4And God saw the light, that it was good, and God separated the light from the darkness.5And God called the light day, and he called the darkness night. And there was evening and there was morning, day one.6And God said, "Let there be a firmament in the midst of the waters, and let it separate the waters from the waters."7And God made the expanse and separated the waters that were under the expanse from the waters that were above the expanse, and it was so.8And God called the firmament heavens. And there was evening and there was morning, the second day.9And God said, "Let the waters under the heavens be gathered into one place, and let dry land appear." And it was so.10And God called the dry land land, and the gathering of the waters he called seas, and God saw that it was good.11And God said, "May the land sprout grass, herb seeding seed, fruit tree making fruit to its kind whose seed is in it on the land." And it was so.12And the land brought forth grass, herb seeding seed according to its kind, and tree making fruit whose seed is in it according to its kind, and God saw that it was good.13And there was evening and there was morning, the third day.14And God said, "Let there be luminaries in the expanse of the heavens to separate the day from the night, and let them be for signs and for appointed times and for days and years."15And they shall be for lights in the expanse of the heavens to shine upon the land, and it was so.16And God made the two great light-bearers: the great light-bearer to rule the day, the small light-bearer to rule the night, and the stars.17And God placed them in the firmament of the heavens to give light upon the earth.18and to rule in the day and in the night, and to separate the light from the darkness. And God saw that it was good.19And there was evening and there was morning, the fourth day.20And God said, "Let the waters swarm with swarming vital life force, and let birds fly over the land across the face of the expanse of the heavens."21And God created the great sea monsters and every living soul of the creeping things that swarmed the waters according to their kinds and every winged bird according to its kind. And God saw that it was good.22And God blessed them, saying, "Be fruitful and multiply and fill the waters in the seas, and let birds multiply on the earth."23And there was evening and there was morning, the fifth day.24And God said, "Let the land bring forth living souls according to their kinds: livestock and creeping things and wild animals of the land according to their kinds." And it was so.25And God made the living creature of the land according to its kind and the beast according to its kind and all the crawler of the ground according to its kind, and God saw that it was good.26And God said, "Let us make Adam in our image, according to our likeness, and let them rule over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the heavens and over the cattle and over all the land and over all the creeping things that creep on the land."27And God created Adam in his image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them.28And God blessed them. And God said to them, "Be fruitful and multiply and fill the land and subdue it and rule over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the heavens and over every living creature that creeps on the land."29And God said, "Behold, I have given you every seed-bearing herb which is on the face of all the land, and every tree which has in it fruit of a tree seed-bearing seed; it will be for food for you."30And to every wild animal of the land and to every bird of the heavens and to every creeper on the land, which has in it nephesh living, every green plant of herbage for food. And it was so.31And God saw everything that he had made, and look, it was very good. And there was evening and there was morning, the sixth day.

Chapter 2
1And the heavens and the earth were finished, and all their host.2And God finished on the seventh day his work which he made, and he rested on the seventh day from all his work which he made.3And God blessed the seventh day and sanctified it, for on it he rested from all his work that God had created to do.
